Ch Abdul Majid

Ch Abdul Majid (born in Tangdew/Chakswari, Mirpur) is a Pakistani Kashmiri politician & the current president of Pakistan Peoples Party Azad Kashmir. Majid was elected Member of Azad Kashmir Legislative Assembly in August 2006 & became the PPP AJK president in 2007.

Political career

Mr Majid became member of AJK Assembly in 1985 & in 1990 for the second time won the confidence of peoples of his constituency and also became the minister of finance & planning and development. In 1993 Majeed became vice president of PPP AJK and later also appointed as Chairman social action programme. In 1996 general elections Majid won with two third majority and became minister for revenue, agriculture and NRMP. In 1998 Chairperson of PPP Shaeed BB nominated him for speakership candidate and he was elected as speaker with support of govt and opposition benches. Majeed is the first speaker in the history of AJK who received vote of confidence from government as well as opposition. 2001 elections he was again elected for AJK assembly and made record first sitting speaker of AJK assembly who contest election and won. In 2005 he became senior vice president of his party later in 2006 he also became the member of PPP CEC. In 2006 elections he won again and Chairperson Appointed him as a party president of AJK. Majeed completed his metric at Mirpur school and went to Karachi Muslim Law School to complete his BA LLB.
