(1999)Back For Good is the seventh album of
Modern Talking released in 1998 after the unexpected reunion of the group. The 7th album of the group was released after almost the 11 years of absence. The title of the album corresponds with the content, since all the songs, included there, are well known.
The album is a collection of their best hits. It consists of 18 compositions, including new songs, 2 original songs, 11 remixed hits and 1 medley. The songs were rehashed and arranged absolutely differently (some of them, e.g. Lady Lai and Angies Heart are hardly to recognise with the new arrangements).
In 1998, the album set a record for the fastest selling album of all time in Germany. After 10 days of release approximately 700,000 copies were sold to retail, took the #1 place in the German album chart, and 4 days later it went platinum. This record was later broken by another album produced by
Modern Talking memberDieter Bohlen – Deutschland Sucht Den Superstar’s “United” sold close to one million copies during the first 10 days of release. The album spent 52 weeks in the German album chart, from 06.04.1998 (week 14) to 18.04.1999 (week 15), exiting once the top in week 14 in 1999, before reentering in week 15 and then exiting the chart.
Music style
The new songs in the typical Modern Talking "double" refrains disappeared, where the first part Thomas and Dieter sing normally, but the second one - on the high tones with the help of the woman back-vocal. Thus, Modern Talking sounded more like Blue System, and not like the band's '80 style.
