- FORMOSAT-1
FORMOSAT-1 (福爾摩沙衛星一號, formerly known as ROCSAT-1) is an
Earth observation satellite operated by the National Space Organization (NSPO) of theRepublic of China (Taiwan ) to conduct observations of theionosphere andoceans . The spacecraft and its instrumentation were developed jointly by NSPO andTRW using TRW'sLightsat bus, and was launched fromCape Canaveral Air Force Station ,USA byLockheed Martin onJanuary 16 1999 .FORMOSAT-1 is still active as of July 2005.
