Raymonda Variations

"Raymonda Variations" is a ballet made by New York City Ballet co-founder and balletmaster George Balanchine to excerpts from the first act of Glazounov's "Raymonda" (1895-97). The premiere took place on December 7, 1961, at City Center of Music and Drama, New York, under the title "Valses et Variations". Balanchine and Alexandra Danilova had mounted a full-length production of "Raymonda" for the Ballet Russe de Monte Carlo in 1946.
