Wellington . WithMMP it was replaced by theTe Tai Hauauru seat in 1996.In 1935,
Haami Tokouru Ratana the eldest son of the founder of the Ratana Church won the seat and became the secondRatana MP; he became a Labour MP following the Labour-Ratana pact.In 1996,
Koro Wetere who had held the seat since 1969 retired from politics.Election results
