"Peculator hedleyi" is a species of sea snail, a marine gastropod mollusc in the family Volutomitridae, the mitres.

Distribution

This species is endemic to New Zealand, found around Northland in the North Island, including Great Barrier Island.

Habitat

This volute is found at depths of between 5 and 475 m.

Description

The shell is ovate-biconical, sculptured with weakly incised spiral lines.

Coloration is dark golden-brown to purplish-brown, often with whitish spots on the upper part of the whorls.

The maximum shell height is 8 mm, and width 3.9 mm.
