Jim McDonald is a stand-up comedian born in Rockville Centre, New York. He was raised in East Greenwich, Rhode Island and attended East Greenwich High School. He also graduated from Bryant College in Smithfield, Rhode Island and Boston College in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts.

His television appearances include the "Late Show with David Letterman" and "The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson", both on the CBS television network.

He was a finalist at the Great American Comedy Festival in Norfolk, Nebraska in June 2008.
