Thomas Greenhill (surgeon)

Thomas Greenhill (1669-1740) of Abbots Langley, Herts and then of Bloomsbury, London was surgeon to his grace Henry Howard, 7th Duke of Norfolk and the author of "NekpokhΔeia" or "The Art of Embalming".

He was the 39th child of William and Elizabeth Greenhill of Harrow, Middlesex, England and Abbots Langley, Hertfordshire, England.

He was granted a version of his father's coat of arms in 1698 consisting of "Vert 2 bars ermine, in chief a lion passant guardant or" and a demi-griffin for its crest differenced by 39 mullets. Its motto was "Honos Alit Artes" or "Honour Nourishes the Arts".
