Volunteers For America

Volunteers For America was a benefit concert held on October 20 , in Atlanta Georgia and October 21 2001 at the Smirnoff Music Center, Dallas Texas The concerts were held in tribute to the victims of the September 11, 2001 attacks. Styx band members, Tommy Shaw, James Young along with others put the benefit concert together in a short period of time. The Concert was in Atlanta Georgia October 20th and moved over night to Dallas, Texas for the October 21st show. Proceedes from the concerts went to Families of Fireman killed in the 9-11 Terror attacks.

Performances

The concert was a who's who of Classic Rock beginning at 4Pm and lasting well into the night, after 1Am . Performances by Edgar Winter Group , Mark Farner , Jack Blades , John Waite , Eddie Money , Peter Frampton , Survivor , Kansas , Journey , Styx , REO Speedwagon , Bad Company, and others.
Lynyrd Skynyrd performed only in Atlanta Each performer did a set usually amounting to about five or more songs apiece. Different from most concerts, Artist would play songs with members from different bands while the stage was being torn down then set up for the next band!

Order of Bands

* Edgar Winter Group | "Frankenstein", " Free Ride"

* Mark Farner | Edgar Winter play Sax and Keyboards for Marks set

* Jack Blades | Singer for Damn Yankees

* John Waite | Singer for The Babys

* Eddie Money | Eddie performed all his hit and also performed on stage with Frampton while waiting on set up for Survivor

* Peter Frampton | Do you feel like I do, Show me the Way

* Survivor | Eye of the Tiger, Burning Heart

* Kansas | Carry on Wayward Son, Point of no Return, Song for America, Dust in the Wind and other Kansas Hits

* REO Speedwagon | Performed many of their Hits, Golden Country was a crowd favorite. Gary Richrath did not perform,

* Styx | Was in top form, playing a full set of Styx Hits

* Journey | Played many of their hit songs, Steve Perry did not perform. Steve Augeri had replaced Steve at lead vocals.

* Bad Company | Bad Company Played an extended set, playing a medley Of Beatles Songs to the cheers of the crowd. Paul Rogers really stole the show singing Classic Bad Company Songs.
