- Thayse de Souza Guedes
Thayse de Souza Guedes (born 1987) is a Brazilian model and quad amputee, who lost her legs and hands to
meningitis at the age of 13. She was later fitted with prosthetic limbs at the Ortopedia Conforpés, the famous rehabilitation clinic run by Nelson Nolé inSorocaba . It was during one of her regular visits to the clinic, in 2006, that she was approached by a representative of the German modelling agency Visable, which specalises in the physically handicapped, and in November of that year flew toHanover to embark on her new career. In an interview with the Brazilian newspaper "Bom Dia", she said before departing, "For me, everything is still a surprise, but I feel that doors are opening..." and with reference to her original intention to study for a degree in either law or psychology, she said, "I have not yet decided; I also want to take advantage of the possibilities as a model."
