Sarıca could play either at Shooting Guard or Small forward positions during his playing career.

Career

Playing Career

Sarıca had begun his career at the age of 16 at Efes Pilsen Youth, where he will have wore the team's jersey for 16 consecutive seasons. During his Efes spelling, he achieved his best success with Korać Cup triumphant in 1996, beating Italian side Olimpia Milano at the two-legged final. He also missed to achieve the European Cup after losing the final. Sarıca reached the Euroleague Quarter-finals 4 times (3 seasons successively between 1997 and 1999). He was a part of the roster of Efes together with Hidayet Türkoğlu, Ömer Onan, and Hüseyin Beşok. He quited the team in 1999 summer after the problems he had, as a part of defoliation including Tamer Oyguç, Murat Evliyaoğlu, and Volkan Aydın.

He joined Ülkerspor where he had Turkish League title at 2000-2001 season; however, he could set himself as a line-up player due to share his position with Harun Erdenay. Then he moved to Israeli side Bnei Herzliya where spent just 2.5 months with playing in just 3 matches, after his falling transfer negotionship with Montepaschi Siena.

Afterwards, Sarica returned Turkey and played at Pınar Karşıyaka, Darüşşafaka, and Beşiktaş Cola Turka for single season periods and then retired.

Manegarial career

Sarıca began his his post-retirement career as the assistant of Murat Didin at Beşiktaş. When Didin left the club in March 2007, Sarıca was appointed as caretaker manager until the end of the season. Then he worked with Ergin Ataman as his assistant coach at Beşiktaş again where they reached TBL play-off semi-finals in 2007/08 season. Ataman quited Beşiktaş and joined Efes Pilsen at the end of the season and Sarıca's name was predicted as the new coach of the team according to local media; [ [http://www.ajansspor.com/basketbol/tbl/h/20080530/ufuk_sarica_besiktasa_dogru.html Sarıca to Besiktas] tr icon] however, he joined Efes as the assistant coach of Ataman once again later on.
