balsrc=Barnes & AmberThe .475 A&M Magnum is a American
rifle cartridge.Designed by the
Atkinson & Marquart Rifle Co. in Prescott,Arizona , this wildcat round was derived from the .378 Weatherby. It was never available commercially, andFred N. Barnes was the only maker of bullets for it. [Barnes, Frank C., ed. by John T. Amber. "Cartridges of the World" (Northfield, IL: DBI Books, 1972), p.142.] At one time, it was the most powerful sporting cartridge ever developed. [Barnes, and Amber, p.142.]Only a small number of custom-built rifles were produced in this caliber. [Barnes, and Amber, p.142.]
