Strieder is a German family surname originating from the
Westerwald district of Germany.Most families with this name seem to be centred particularly around the village of
Winkels near toMengerskirchen andWeilburg an der Lahn, many emigrated from there to the USA in the 1800s and early 1900s to escape the hardships of the difficult conditions and land in that area. Thebasalt in the Area made working the land difficult and gave poor yields.
