"Journal of the History of Childhood and Youth" is a new international, scholarly, peer-reviewed academic journal launched in 2008 that explores the development of childhood and youth cultures and the experience of young people across diverse times and places. JHCY embraces a wide range of historcal methodologies as well as scholarship in other disciplines that share a historical focus. The journal publishes original articles based on empirical research and essays that place contemporary issues of childhood and youth in a historical context. Each issue also includes an "object lesson" on the material culture of childhood, contemporary policy pieces, and relevant book reviews. JHCY is the official journal of the [http://www.h-net.org/~child/SHCY/ Society for the History of Children and Youth] . Its editors are Brian Bunk and Laura Lovett of the University of Massachusetts, Amherst; Karen Sanchez-Eppler and Martha Saxton of Amherst College; its book editor is John Pahl of the Lutheran Theological Seminary at Philadelphia.

The journal is published three times annually in January, May, and September. The average length of an issue is 160 pages.
