Pon Arunachalam

Pon. Arunachalam(பொன்.அருணாசலம் ) is an eminent versatile Tamil writer from Tuticorin,author of 250 short stories, 15 Novels, self improvement Books, Astrology, Poems, Life History, Biographies and Essay Books. He has carved a special place in the hearts of Tamil people with his family novels and confidence inducing Books.

Life

Pon. Arunachalam was born in Turicorin June 27, 1946. He completed his graduation in the year 1968 and was selected as Senior Inspector of Cooperatives by the Tamilnadu Service Commission in the year 1970. He got his first postings at Vellore during which period he started his literary Carrier.

Contributions

In the year 1973 his first short story was published in Vellore Malai Murasu. This golden period was an important phase to him as he found more time to write. Subsequently he became a regular contributor to Tamil periodicals such as Thinamani Kadir, Kungumam, Devi, Cinema Express, Ananda Vikatan, Kumudam, Idayam Pesukirathu, Rani, Thai, Vanoli Kathai Mandram.

Novels were published in Malai Mathi and Thinamani Kadir monthly.

Prizes & Publications

Pon Arunachalam was rewarded first prize for the “Devi Weekly” short story competition held in 1990.

The Publishing house (Manimekalai Prasuram) Chennai run by Lena Thamilvanan & Ravi Tamilvanan published all his distinguished writings and released 19 Books.

Thiru Pon Arunachalam, after 33 years of his dedicated service to Tamilnadu Govt, he retired as Deputy Registrar Coop societies in the year 2002.

But his literary contribution still continues by the grace of Lord Venkatachalapathy…
