Born in
Caerphilly , Phillips formedKids In Glass Houses , whilst still a pupil at Welsh speaking school,Ysgol Gyfun Cwm Rhymni , where he excelled at English and Art. He had previously been a member of 'Cause For Concern' with Iain Mahanty (also of Kids In Glass Houses), who left to focus on his other band,Dopamine .Between 2005 and 2006, while the band was still finding its figurative feet, he studied a Foundation Course in Illustration at Glamorgan Centre For Art and Design, where he received a Distinction grade. In 2006 he attended UWIC University in Cardiff, studying Illustration, but dropped out after only 3 days to focus on the band. He has professed an interest in continuing his studies in some capacity in the future.
Phillips is responsible for all of the bands artwork, from CD artwork to merchandise; posters to websites. He has also been known to produce artwork for other bands or organisations, on occasion. Notable clients have been The Blackout and Dopamine, who both have merchandise designed by the singer - the latter also having had CD and promotional artwork produced.
Followers of the band have become attached to Phillips extensive and quirky blogs on the bands Myspace, and seems to have acquired a cult readership who respond to these blogs. He professes a love for "words" and writing and has made several mentions of future writing plans.

Phillips has released one album to date. The record,
Smart Casual (album) was released on May 21st, 2008 via Roadrunner Records and peaked at =29 in the UK album charts - a feat Phillips referred to as "a bit surreal, really"!The videos of singles 'Easy Tiger', 'Give Me What I Want' and 'Saturday' have received heavy rotation on MTV, Kerrang, Scuzz and NME TV and have topped the charts on several occasion.
