Salah El-Din castle

It is actually two castles (Northern & Southern) in Pharaoh's Island in Aqaba, Gulf of Red Sea. [ [http://www.sis.gov.eg/VR/sinia/html/sinai05.htm Sinai castles] ] Said Aly "Sinai, the meaning and importance" ar icon ISBN 977-437-760-5] .

It was built by Salah El-din (Saladin) in 1170 AD. The island had another castles before in old Arabic era and in 1116 AD by Baldwin.

The Castles have played a major rule in the crusades, Mamluk and Ottoman eras.
