Sherborne Missal

The Sherborne Missal is a 15th Century missal that has survived in excellent condition.cite web|url= http://www.bl.uk/onlinegallery/themes/euromanuscripts/sherborne.html|title= The British Museum - The Sherborne Missal|accessdate= 2008-07-15|] It weighs 20kg and has 694 pages.cite web|url= http://www.bbc.co.uk/dorset/content/articles/2005/08/11/missal_feature.shtml|title= BBC - Dorset - Faith - The Sherborne Missal|accessdate= 2008-07-15|date= 2005-08-12] It was commissioned by Abbott Robert Bruyning of Sherborne, and was made for use at Sherborne Abbey.

The missal is notable for a number of reasons. The illuminations include the name of the Patron (Bruyning), as well his superior as the Bishop of Salisbury Richard Mitford, and the main scribe, John Whas, and the main artist John Siferwas.

The Missal also contains numerous high quality drawings of British birds, including Cormorants, Robins, Gannets, Moorhens, and Storks.
