Mike Brotherton (born March 26, 1968) is an American science fiction writer and astronomer. He began writing in 1980.

Biography
Born Michael Brotherton in Granite City, Illinois, Mike grew up in St. Louis, Missouri, attended college at Rice University and graduate school at the University of Texas at Austin. He is currently a tenured Professor of Astronomy at the University of Wyoming at Laramie. At some point in time he received two star tattoos on his arms.
Work
Mike Brotherton writes hard science-fiction stories with well-developed characters.
For a living, Mike is an observational astronomer, researching quasars and active galactic nuclei.
Combining his interest in science fiction writing and astronomy, Mike organizes the yearly Launch Pad workshop, which teaches astronomy to writers of science fiction and fantasy.
