There were three constituents of the police forces of the Third Reich:
*Ordnungspolizei ("Orpo") "regular police"
*Kriminalpolizei ("Kripo") "criminal police"
*Sicherheitspolizei ("Sipo") "security police"
In 1942 the "Sipo" and "Kripo" were amalgamated to form the Reichssicherheitshauptamt (RSHA).
