Canadian Army Pacific Force

The Canadian Army Pacific Force was created in 1945 as Canada's contribution to the War in the Pacific. It was an administrative entity intended to provide air, sea and land forces for the intended invasion of Japan (Operation Olympic.

Components

A 6th Canadian Infantry Division (CAPF) was proposed as a formation of the Commonwealth Corps, to be commanded by Major General Bert Hoffmeister. The division was organized on American lines and with U.S. equipment, but units were named after the component units of the 1st Canadian Infantry Division.
