Total known weight

Total known weight

Total known weight (TKW) is in meteoritics the complessive weight of all meteorites associated with one singole meteorite fall. TKW is an useful information that gives an idea of the quantity of meteoritical material from a specific fall that exists.

It can be useful to stimate the size of the original meteoroid, but it is important to stress that the TKW actually counts only the "known" mass of a meteorite and not the original meteoroid mass or the estimated survived mass of it. Therefore unrecovered but "seen" masses are included and not yet discovered masses are excluded.
