ntupdate =Alessandro Melli (born
December 11 ,1969 inAgrigento ) is an Italian former international footballer. Melli's father was a professional footballer, playing as a centre-forward for Parma, and Alessandro followed in his footsteps. He made his Parma debut aged 17, and was part of the team that was promoted fromSerie C1 toSerie A . He had loan spell at Modena, which was cut short when he fell out with coachPaolo Ferrari , but began to establish himself in Parma's first team in the early 90s, in what was a golden period for the club. They won theCoppa Italia in 1992, and the Cup Winners' Cup in 1993, with Melli part of an exciting attacking line-up that includedFaustino Asprilla ,Tomas Brolin andGianfranco Zola . During this time he won two caps for Italy, in World Cup qualifiers against Malta and Estonia. He left Parma in 1994, spending six months each at Sampdoria and Milan (who swappedRuud Gullit for him), before returning to the Ennio Tardini after a year away. This lasted two years, but he couldn't recapture the form of old, and was transferred toSerie B side Perugia in 1997, where he immediately won promotion toSerie A . He left Perugia in 2000, and ended his career with a season at Ancona.Honours
