Graham N. Stanton

Graham Stanton (born circa 1940) is Lady Margaret's Professor of Divinity at Cambridge University. [http://www.divinity.cam.ac.uk/faculty/stanton.html Faculty of Divinity: Staff page] ] Stanton's special interests in the Gospels are Paul's letters, and second century Christian writings.

In the period 1996-7, Stanton was the President of the "Studiorum Novi Testamenti Societas" (Society for New Testament Studies - SNTS), the international society of New Testament scholars. "For nine years he was Editor of the journal New Testament Studies and of the associated monograph series, both published by Cambridge University Press and considered to be the leaders in the field. He is a General Editor of the International Critical Commentaries, for over 100 years the leading set of commentaries in English on the Bible. He has lectured widely in the English-speaking world, and also in Europe."

Because of his contribution to biblical studies, Stanton was awarded the British Academy's Burkitt Medal in 2006. He was honored with a Festschrift to mark his 65th birthday in 2005: "The Written Gospel" eds. M. Bockmuehl and D. Hagner, Cambridge University Press.
