New services

On March 28, 2008, a number of radio broadcasting companies applied for new radio services in Red Deer, Drumheller, Edmonton and other areas in Alberta, including one location in British Columbia. [ [http://www.crtc.gc.ca/archive/ENG/Hearings/2008/n2008-2.htm Broadcasting Notice of Public Hearing CRTC 2008-2] ] One of the proposed radio stations at Red Deer is "90.5 Red FM", an application by Clear Sky Radio for a "gold-based adult contemporary" station with extensive local information programming, similar to Clear Sky's existing CJOC-FM in Lethbridge. [ [http://www.redradio.ca/ 90.5 RED FM] ] . Also in the running L.A. Radio Group Inc. operators of Sunny 94 in Lacombe, Red Deer's application is for a new music format 100.7 CiTY FM

Television

Only one television station, CHCA-TV, is based in Red Deer. All of the city's other television services are rebroadcasters of stations from Edmonton.
