elevation_max =Pontokomi (or pondokomi) (Ποντοκώμη gr) is a village is located in the central part of of
Kozani Prefecture , Western Macedonia Region,Greece . Altitude 710m, between the cities ofPtolemaida andKozani (14 km distance from both).It has 1,316 inhabitants (as of the 2001 census). It is a refugee town, developed as amodern and organised village with a complete market and services.
A new amphitheatre opened
2001-07-15 which was constructed at the foot of the mountain shaped by former quarries. On2002-06-20 , it was named Amphitheatre Mikis Theodorakis.Pontokomi has rich action during the later Greek history with main benchmark participation of the majority of residents in the resistance during World War, but also in match against dictatorship.
The main occupation of the inhabitants was agriculture (cereals, tobacco, etc.) while, in more recent times, most are working in the power stations.
