"Xymene convexus" is a species of predatory sea snail, a marine gastropod mollusc in the family Muricidae, the rock snails or murex snails.

Distribution

This murex species is endemic to the southern South Island of New Zealand, including the New Zealand Sub-Antarctic Islands.

Habitat

This snail is found at depths of between 20 and 240 m.

hell description

The small shell is similar to "Xymene aucklandicus" but with evenly convex whorls, stronger spiral cords, and coarse sculpture.

Coloration is dark purplish brown.

Height is up to 9 mm, and width up to 4.5 mm.
