"Beautiful Dreamer" is the sixth episode of the fifth season of the CBS drama series "Touched by an Angel." David Selby guest stars as Abraham Lincoln in this episode.

Plot

Tess is a substitute teacher, and meets a boy named Calvin (Mitchah Williams) who wants to be an assassin when he grows up. Tess then tells him of what happened to the man who killed Abraham Lincoln (David Selby).

Andrew was still a caseworker, and Sam (Paul Winfield) was his supervisor. Andrew's assignment was John Wilkes Booth (Reg Rogers). Andrew finds out of Booth's hatred towards Lincoln, and plans to kill him.

Meanwhile, Monica appears to Lincoln as an angel, and Lincoln remembers a dream he had: his corpse laying on the ground. Monica comforts Lincoln, and assures him that, whatever lies ahead, his work will be continued.

Lincoln attends the Theater, and Booth is ready to kill him. Andrew wants to stop him, but Sam tells him to let his free will continue. Booth murders Lincoln that night, and hides in a barn, and sees Andrew as an angel. Andrew tells Booth that he did not act according to God's will, but that God offers Booth forgiveness. Just before he can ask forgiveness, Booth is shot by a policeman and dies. Sam then gives Andrew the job as an Angel of Death, and his first job is to escort Lincoln to heaven.

After the story, Tess takes Calvin to the Lincoln Memorial. Calvin then says he wants another career: to be President of the United States.
