website = [http://www.transcoding.org/cgi-bin/transcode www.transcoding.org/cgi-bin/transcode]Transcode is a free
audio /video transcoder with a command-line interface forUnix-like operating systems. It usesFFmpeg 's libavcodec library, and supports numerous formats (such asDV ,MPEG-2 ,MPEG-4 Part 2 , H.264 [cite mailing list |url=http://www.mail-archive.com/transcode-users@exit1.org/msg01582.html |title=Re: transcode-users H.264? |date=2008-04-12 |accessdate=2008-07-12 |mailinglist=transcode-users |last=Romani |first=Francesco |authorlink= ] , as well as all the formats supported by libavcodec). It also includes a variety of pre/post filters for denoising, deinterlacing, smoothing, sharpening, etc. As for container formats, transcode was desgined around AVI, and support for output to more modern container formats is still limited. For example, current versions of transcode do not support multiplexing into the popular MP4 container format; external tools must be used instead. 2001 . It was developed forLinux and otherUnix-like operating systems. There is no Windows version, and the developers have no plans to create one.
