Siemens forFirst ScotRail , under a contract announced 11 July 2008 byTransport Scotland . They will be based at
Glasgow Shields Road TMD , and used on services in Ayrshire and the Inverclyde region ofScotland , including on the newGlasgow Airport Rail Link . They will replace the current Class 334 and Class 318 on the Ayrshire/Inverclyde routes and will allow the cascade of this older stock onto theNorth Clyde Line when it is extended toEdinburgh Waverley via theAirdrie-Bathgate Rail Link in2011 .Stations along the
Ayrshire Coast Line will undergo platform extension to allow the use of longer trains.
