Briarcliff (Atlanta), Georgia

Briarcliff is an unincorporated area in northern Dekalb County, Georgia. It is generally considered the area inside I-285, south of Tucker, and north of Druid Hills. It is also a Census-Designated Place under the name of North Druid Hills. The area once had its own high school, Briarcliff High School, and has its own branch of the Dekalb County Library System, the Briarcliff Library. The Sembler Company is striving to create an urban, mixed-use town center development, Town Briarcliff, at the corner of North Druid Hills Road and Briarcliff road. Neighbors oppose this plan depsite the large influx of investment that will occur as a result.

The center of Briarcliff is often thought of as the intersection of Briarcliff Road and Clairmont, near the Williamsburg Village Shopping Center.

Briarcliff was mostly developed in the mid 20th century, starting in the late 1950's and ending in the early 1970's.

Briarcliff High School opened in 1959 and closed in 1987. An archive of its athletic teams can be found at http://BriarcliffBarons.blogspot.com
