"Buccinulum linea linea", or the lined whelk, is a subspecies of marine gastropod mollusc of the family Buccinidae.

Distribution

The lined whelk is endemic to New Zealand, including the Chatham Islands.

Habitat

This species is found in shallow water on rocky shores.

Description

The shell has rounded whorls, variably spirally lirate and weakly axially , with a capacious body whorl, the neck being slight and near to the short twisted and recurved siphonal canal.

Coloration is variable, ranging from pale brownish to sparse narrow brown spiral lines and numerous spiral lines. Maximum height is 49 mm, and width 23 mm.
