Wu Wei (painter)

Wu Wei (Wu Wei, traditional: 吳偉, simplified: 吴伟); ca. 1459-1508 was a Chinese landscape painter during the Ming Dynasty (1368–1644).

Wu was born in Wuchang in the Hubei provincecite web|url=http://www.china-on-site.com/pages/painter/1070.php|title=Wu Wei Brief Biography|accessdate=2008-07-09] . His style names were 'Shiying and Ciweng' and his sobriquets were 'Lufu and Xiaoxian'. Wu painted landscapes and human figures in a strong, fluent, and uninhibited style, and took on many students to teach.
