José Maria de Almeida Alves Caetano

José Maria de Almeida Alves Caetano (Pampilhosa da Serra, Pessegueiro, [Baptised in Pampilhosa da Serra, Pessegueiro, on October 1, 1863.] – Lisbon, Rua Palmira, nr. 56, 4th floor, January 27, 1946), was a Sergeant of the Body of Cavalry of the Fiscal Brigade ("Guarda Fiscal") of the Portuguese National Republican Guard, and an Underinspector of the Customs of Lisbon. He was the Founder and Treasurer of the "Conferência de São Vicente de Paulo" of Anjos, Lisbon, and Honorary President of the Liga de Melhoramentos da Freguesia do Pessegueiro.

He was the second son and child of Albino Alves Caetano (Pampilhosa da Serra, Pessegueiro – Lisbon, 1874), a tailor, and wife (m. Góis, Alvares, May 25, 1852) Ana Rita de Almeida (b. Góis, Alvares [Baptised in Góis, Alvares, on February 16, 1831.] ), a spinner, brother of Manuel (b. c. 1858), married to Maria Rosa (b. October 4, 1824) and had issue, Ludovina (b. c. 1863), Maria (b. c. 1864) and Generosa (b. c. 1866).

He married firstly in Évora, Santo Antão, on July 26, 1890 to Josefa Maria das Neves (Góis, Colmeal, July 25, 1859 – Lisbon, Rua Palmira, nr. 56, 4th floor, March 1, 1917), daughter of Joaquim das Neves (b. Góis, Colmeal, September 4, 1831) and wife (m. Góis, Colmeal, April 16, 1855) Ana Maria da Conceição (b. Góis, Colmeal, April 11, 1830), and had:
* Arminda das Neves Alves Caetano (b. 1891), married to Álvaro Duarte da Silva Sanches (b. April 6, 1895), cousin of the Viscounts da Silva Sanches and the Viscounts de Sanches de Frias, and had issue, including politician Rui Alves da Silva Sanches
* Emília das Neves Alves Caetano (b. 1893)
* João Maria das Neves Alves Caetano (1895-1896)
* Olga de Jesus das Neves Alves Caetano (b. 1897)
* Lucinda das Neves Alves Caetano (b. 1901), married to Gaspar Bastos Coelho (b. c. 1900) and had issue
* Marcelo José das Neves Alves Caetano (1906-1980), Portuguese Prime-Minister

He married secondly Maria da Encarnação Barata and had:
* Maria do Céu Barata Alves Caetano (c. 1919-1920)
* Nuno José Barata Alves Caetano (b. 1921), married to Maria Manuela Júdice Limpo de Araújo Sena (b. 1922) and had issue
* José Pedro Barata Alves Caetano (b. 1922), married to Antónia Moita (b. c. 1919) and had issue
