Biography

Early life

Brittany Nicole Carpenter was born in Atlanta, Georgia.[2]also known as Diamond. Diamond was also in the Honor Society from middle school, and she graduated Magna cum laude her senior year with a 3.5 G.P.A. She didn't want to go to college, so she pursued Rap[citation needed].

Crime Mob, 2004–2007

Crime Mob first garnered national attention in 2004 with their single "Knuck If You Buck",[2] which was eventually certified Platinum.[4] They released their debut album, Crime Mob later that summer. Their next charting single, "Rock Yo Hips", was released in August 2006 and was followed by a second album, Hated on Mostly, in March 2007.

Solo career, 2008–present

In November 2007, Diamond left Crime Mob to pursue a solo career. She was conflicted about going solo, feeling bad and feeling like she betrayed the group. She states:

I feel like it’s the best decision to make because the choices and opportunities that was presented in front of me the whole time while I was in the group, I’m able to take that now and not feel bad about it or not feel like I’m being disloyal to the group.

She released a number of mixtapes Bitch Muzik Vol. 1, Bitch Muzik Vol. 2, P.M.S (Pardon My Swag) etc.

In 2010, Diamond appeared on the remix version of "My Chick Bad", a Ludacris single, along with Trina and Eve. 2010 summer saw the release of her debut single Lotta Money which managed to gain some attention on BET's 106 & Park. The video features Gucci Mane who is otherwise not featured in the song. Diamond recently released a song called "Hit Dat" Featuring Waka Flocka Flame, which is rumored to be her official second single. The official video was released in August 2011.

She was nominated for Best Female Hip Hop Artist at the BET Awards of 2011.[5]

Bitch Muzik Vol.4, 2011-present

Diamond began working on her last mixtape "Bitch Muzik Vol. 4" around the time she had been nominated for Best Female Hip Hop Artist at the BET Awards of 2011. The mixtape also had a follow-up text that said "Poor Lil Rich Girl". In an interview Diamond stated that "Poor Lil Rich Girl" would be a mixtape with songs about the problems and the benefits of having money. Fans of Diamond were upset and expressed this over twitter multiple times when the mixtape failed to ever have a specific release date and was continually pushed back. Three songs were released as promos before the release of "Bitch Muzik Vol. 4" which were "Tony Montana Remix" "It's Not a Gameboy" & "I'm On One Remix" the last ended up on the mixtape anyway. "Hit Dat Hoe" was also released as a possible single but ended up on the mixtape as well. The mixtape was released at 2:00 on LiveMixtapes.com on August 23, 2011. Though the date had originally been August 30th, the boost in Diamond's followers on twitter had made her reach 100,000 followers and she decided to make the release date earlier. Diamond stated in a recent interview that this would be her last mixtape before her debut album. The album is said to be currently in works.
