"Tyrant" is the second song of the album "Sad Wings of Destiny", by the Heavy metal band Judas Priest. It was written in the "Rocka Rolla" sessions, but it were not recorded in the album aside "The Ripper" and "Genocide".

The song is about the tyrant's and its power, and according to Rob Halford:

"I wouldn't say that there's no fantasy at all in our lyrics. Our lyrics are firmly bound to the present, but there's still a certain freedom in their organization which enables the listeners to include their own fantasy, their own experience, their environment. For example, I wrote a song with the title 'Tyrant'. In this piece I expressed my aversion towards any form of control, that is very concrete, but still the lyrics are chosen in such a way that the listener is able to find his own frustrations of this problem interpreted within this framework..."

It was recorded in the "Unleashed in the East" live album, and it's regarded as one of the best song by the early Judas Priest.

Thrash metal band Overkill covered this song on their covers album, Coverkill.

Fun Fact: Contrary to popular opinion, "Tyrant" as opposed to "Hell Bent For Leather" was first used as the song where Halford rides out on a Harley and revs the engine for abit. This was done until the 1982 tour, when Tyrant would be dropped and "Hell Bent For Leather" would be permanently established as the "Harley song."
