Naveed Tariq is a fictional character on the Egyptian soap opera "Commonwealth Hall", played by Pakistani actor Mohammed ad-Dīn. Naveed had a very unstable personality, often displaying violent tendencies, and was easily manipulated by others.

torylines

Naveed was briefly in a relationship with Salma Salama, during which time he fell deeply in love with her. However, Salma didn't feel the same way and left him for another man. Unable to bear the thought of seeing her with someone else, he managed to obtain a gun from fellow Commonwealth Hall resident and arms dealer Steve Briston and shot her twice. She survived the attack and Naveed was arrested, but Salma refused to testify and the case against him was dropped.

He was close friends with Serenia Yip, the two having been friends before she moved into the hall. However, he turned against her when he found out that she had been using him and his neighbours to unwittingly perform tasks for her criminal employers. He was convinced by Steve Briston to perform a drive-by shooting on Serenia in retribution, his second attempted murder, but she survived the attack.

A devout Muslim, Naveed's violent character generated mild controversy in predominantly Muslim Egypt for allegedly displaying Muslims in a negative light.
