Earlston , Scottish Borders. It serves Earlston, as well as the surrounding area (including many with their own high school, namely Galashiels). It is in the middle of Earlston, off the A68 road.Difficulties have arisen due to the location (and size of the student body, rising close to 1000) of the school, so a new school [ [http://www.earlstonhigh.scotborders.sch.uk/newschool/newschool.htm The new school] ] is currently being built, very close to the old school, which will improve access and allow a greater number of pupils into the school.

Earlston High School was originally called Earlston Public School [ [http://www.earlstonhigh.scotborders.sch.uk/about/aims.htm#history EHS History] ] , formed when two existing Earlston schools were merged in 1877.
*Up until 1967, the school was a combined Primary and Junior Secondary School.
*In 1967, it became Earlston High School and started accepting all pupils from Lauder, Channelkirk, Gordon, Westruther and Hume.
*In 1974 the school was upgraded to full 6 year status.
*In 1976 Melrose was added to the catchment area.
*By 1982 the new extension and the conversion work to the existing buildings were completed.
*In 1982 Newtown St.Boswells and St.Boswells were added to the catchment area.
*In 1983 Earlston Primary School became a separate school with its own headteacherCatchment Area

*Bigger classrooms
*Improved practical classrooms
*Larger corridors

[http://www.earlston-pri.scotborders.sch.uk/ Earlston Primary School] has strong links to Earlston High School, and is adjoined onto the main high school building. Pupils from the primary school regularly come up to the high school library to loan books, and all P7 pupils having a guaranteed place in the high school.
