The Prince's Foundation for Integrated Health

The Prince's Foundation for Integrated Health is a small charity promoting the marrying together of healthy lifestyle choices (good food, work, access to nature, exercise) with orthodox and complementary interventions to create an environment that promotes wellbeing.

Created in 1993, it is sometimes referred to as being one of The Prince's Charities of which The Prince of Wales is President. In 2007 it received a grant of £528,742 from The Prince's Charities Foundation. Fact|date=September 2008

Work of the Foundation for Integrated Health

In 2005, FIH received a grant from the Department of Health to help organise the self-regulation of complementary therapies. There had been concern that with a large proportion of the public turning to complementary approaches, there were few safeguards in place to ensure that non-statutorily regulated therapists were safe, trained and would act in an appropriate way. FIH has worked to bring together the representative bodies of many complementary professions to talk and agree standards. [ [http://www.fih.org.uk/what_we_do/regulation/index.html Regulating complementary therapies - Prince's Foundation for Integrated Health ] ] The result has been the formation of the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council, who will be opening their register to a number of professions in late 2008.

FIH is also working with medical schools to increase the understanding of complementary approaches amongst new doctors.

FIH runs an annual awards ceremony for integrated health schemes both within the medical world and in the community.
