children = The Rt. Hon. Harold John Tennant (1865 – 9 November 1935) was a Scottish Liberal politician.

Tennant was born to Charles Clow Tennant and Emma Winsloe at The Glen, Innerleithen, Peeblesshire. He was educated at Eton College and at Trinity College, Cambridge.

Tennant was Member of Parliament (MP) for Berwickshire (later renamed Berwick and Haddington) from 1894 until his defeat in 1918. He was an unsuccessful candidate for Glasgow Central in 1923.

Tennant served as Assistant Private Secretary to his brother-in-law Asquith while the latter was Home Secretary, then as Parliamentary Secretary to the Board of Trade from 1909 to 1911, Financial Secretary to the War Office from 1911 to 1912, Under-Secretary of State for War from 1912 to 1916, and Secretary for Scotland from July to December 1916. He was made a Privy Counsellor in 1914.
