refnum=93000278The Whoop-Up Trail, extending from Fort Benton, Montana to Fort Hamilton, Alberta (also known as "Fort Whoop-Up") was a smuggling route between Montana and a relatively lawless region of Alberta in the 1870's. Trade goods such as guns, metal implements and, most notoriously, alcohol were shipped north to trade with the Blackfeet around Lethbridge, Alberta for buffalo robes.
