- Jan de Haan
Jan de Haan (born
July 29 1951 inWarns, Friesland ) is a contemporary Dutchcomposer ,publisher , conductor andmusician .Between 1961 and 1968 he played as a
trombone player in the "Nationaal Jeugd Fanfareorkest" and in thebrass band "Pro-Rege" fromHeerenveen . He studied trombone at the "Muziek-Pedagogische Akademie" inLeeuwarden between 1969 and 1973. In 1974 he started to study brass band direction underHenk van Lijnschooten at the conservatory inUtrecht and earned his diploma in 1976. From 1969 to 1977 he taught a brass class at the music school inHeerenveen .After that he started working as a freelance musician, conductor and composer. His brass band "Soli Deo Glori" gained national and international accolade and he became guest conductor of numerous brass ensembles.
He was also a producer at
NCRV for both television and radio and was responsible for numerous programms amongst them the thirteen part "The history of the brass band (De geschiedenis van de brassband)" series.Since 1983 he is a lecturer at the "Muziek-Pedagogische Akademie" in
Leeuwarden and owner of a music publsihing company.He is the brother of composer Jacob de Haan.
