Background

The Balkan League consisting of the Kingdom of Serbia, Montenegro, Greece, and Bulgaria had jointly declared war against the Ottoman Empire. Montenegro mobilized her forces and prepared the attack the ottoman forces in Albania directly to the south of her. Skadar had long been a territorial ambition of Montenegro with claims dating from the medieval ages.

Battle

The Siege of Shkoder took place on October 28th. The attack was originally carried out by the Montenegrin Army under Prince Danilo. However, the troops encountered stiff resistance and Serbian troops came to relieve the Montenegrins. The forces combined and after bitter fighting, they managed to storm and capture the city.

Aftermath

The conquest of Skadar paved the way for the Serbian capture of the remainder of Ottoman Albania. Despite this, when the war was over, the Great Powers didn't award Serbia or Montenegro any of their conquests in Albania (including Skadar).
