M. M. Kalburgi

M. M. Kalburgi (1938) was vice-Chancellor of Kannada University, Hampi. He was awarded several prestigious awardsincluding Karnataka state Sahitya academy award, Janapad and Yakshagana janapad prashasti, the national sahitya academy prashasti (2006) and the Adikavi Pampa prashasti.

Early life

Malleshappa Kalburgi was born in Yargall village of Sindgi taluk of Bijapur district. His father Madivalappa and mother Guramma were from Yargall. His primary and high school education took place in his village and Sindgi. Kalburgi studied B.A from Bijapur.

Career

Kalburgi completed M.A in Kannada from Karnatak University Dharwar in the year 1962. In 1966, he became professor of Kannada in the same university. In 1982, he became the chirperson of the Kannada department. Later he was vice-chancellor of Kannada university at Hampi and retired from service.
