Edward V. Curry

Curry was a New York State Assembly member from 1949 to 1952 and state senator from 1955 to 1956.

Curry's 1948 campaign for New York state assembly made the establishment of a free college for Staten Island his primary objective, if elected. Curry's victory paved the way for public higher education on Staten Island, New York. He eventually lost his senate seat to John Marchi, who would serve a record fifty years as a New York state senator.

Curry was born on June 18, 1910, in New Dorp, Staten Island, Richmond County, New York State, and died ---. Curry served in the U.S. Navy during the Second World War. He was a member of the American Legion, Forty and Eight, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and Elks. His political career included being a member of the New York state assembly from Richmond County's 2nd District from 1949 to 1952, and member of the New York state senate 19th District from 1955 to 1956. Curry was a member of the Democratic Party.
