Here onMarch 11 ,1903 , noted Americanmusician ,accordion ist,bandleader , andtelevision impresario Lawrence Welk was born to Ludwig and Christina Welk, who were German-speakingRoman Catholics fromAlsace-Lorraine by way of Odessa,Ukraine .
