Technology Survey Group (TSG)

The Technology Survey Group or "TSG", is a sub-component of the Defense Technical Information Center (DTIC) [ [http://www.dtic.mil DTIC Online ] ] . [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Defense_Technical_Information_Center] The TSG is located in Columbia, Maryland. The TSG is comprised of US Government personnel with strong technical backgrounds and their research is focused on global emerging technologies such as Information and Communications Technology [ [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ICT_(education)] ICT] , Geology, Chemistry, Physics, and Bioinformatics to name a few. The TSG provides unclassified information garnered worldwide from academia, business, and government agencies. Members of the group frequently travel globally in order to attend Conferences, Symposiums, Trade-Shows, and Universities. They select only those academic papers, personnel, and businesses that meet DTIC Public Science and Technical Information Network (STINET) standards. [http://stinet.dtic.mil/info/s-stinet.html] The research and information that the Technology Survey Group gathers primarily populates the Defense Virtual Library with technical reports, journal articles, patent applications, studies and analysis reports, foreign technical literature for the express purpose of broadening the sharing of information and ideas, Conference proceedings, and Theses. Further, the Group contributes to the Research Summaries (RS) Database, and the Independent Research and Development (IR&D) Database. However, their information may be used in order to garner government contracted business partnerships, global joint-research, and research grants.
