Gift Maworere was born to William and Janet Maworere on 25 January 1987 in the city of Bulawayo, where he learned how to play football (soccer) and was subsequently scouted by Ken Risley on a trip to Zimbabwe. Gift was a part of a very talented group of athletes at C.B.C Bulawayo born in 1987, including West Kentucky University Track and Field star Mandhla Mgijima [ [http://www.wkusports.com/profile.cgi?profile=1746 Western Kentucky University Official Sports Site ] ] and University of Wales Institute, Cardiff basketball star Mbongeni Mpofu, both of whom have gone on to prove themselves outstanding performers in the collegiate arena.

Playing Highlights

Gift started all his matches as a true freshman in 2006, scoring his first goal in a 4-0 win over Marquette. He was selected for All-State honours in 2004 and 2005 representing Episcopal High School where he matriculated with an honourable mention in 2003. Made all-conference first team in 2003, 2004, 2005 and was MVP in the Menno Soccer Classic. Having finished his sophomore year in college, West Viginia Head Coach Marion LeBlanc made Gift a team captain as one of the leading returning midfielders in the Big East.

Gift's major footballing ambitions are to turn professional and play in the Barclays Premiership of England and to represent his country Zimbabwe internationally at a major tournament.
