Faisal Manzoor Arain

Dr. Faisal Manzoor Arain (Urdu: فيصل منظور آرائين) worked as an architect in Pakistan, and a projects manager in Saudi Arabia. He holds a Ph.D. in project management from the School of Design and Environment, National University of Singapore, a Bachelor degree in architecture from Dawood College of Engineering and Technology of NED University of Engineering and Technology, and a Master of Science degree in Construction Project Management from King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals, Saudi Arabia. As a project manager, he developed designs and management systems for school building projects in Singapore. He has also worked as Director Projects, Projects Planning and Development Department, and Assistant Professor, Department of Management at Institute of Business Administration (IBA), Karachi, Pakistan.

Dr. Arain has consulted, researched and published in the discipline of Project Management and Design and Construction Management. He has lectured in various countries, including Canada, Singapore, Australia, Malaysia, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia and Pakistan. He researches things such as designing educational spaces, design/construction interface issues, project management, and the development and application of knowledge-based systems for managing building projects.

Dr. Arain won the Donald S. Barrie Award 2005 http://www.pmi.org/pmief/scholarship/award-dsba-current.asp Fact|date=July 2008 conferred by Project Management Institute (PMI) USA, and became the first person in the Asia Pacific region to win the award. He has a good research track record, and has had numerous papers published or accepted for publication in both international refereed journals, and in conferences. Dr. Arain has over 40 research publications, 3 book reviews and numerous magazine publications in his profile. He also serves on editorial boards of many international research journals.

Due to his achievements in academia, research and industry, Dr. Arain has been listed in "Who’s Who" in the ninth edition of "Science and Engineering", "Who’s Who" in Asia, the twenty-fifth edition of "Who's Who" in the World, and in "Outstanding Scientists of the 21st Century".

Dr. Arain is currently working as the Chair of Construction Project Management with Southern Alberta Institute of Technology in Calgary, Canada. He also lectures Project Management Courses for Project Management Certification Programme (Joint MRC-PMI, US programme) at Mount Royal College, Calgary, Canada.
