History

In the past, Rode Heath and Thurlwood were completely different places. There was at one point a church in Thurlwood, although this is no longer the case. There used to be a small Co-op retailer beside the Thurlwood tavern, "The Royal Oak", however this is currently a Chinese Takeaway, entitled "Jade Garden". Rode Heath and Thurlwood are now effectively joined, although the major 'link' and where you can see the end of one village lies on the southemost lock.
