Since extensive housing developments in Thurlwood the two are known simply as Rode Heath. Rode Heath has two pubs and a local primary school. Rode Heath also contains a small Chinese takeaway and the Church of the Good Shepherd; one of the three churches that make up the Parish ofOdd Rode . In the past, Rode Heath and Thurlwood were completely different places. There was at one point a church in Thurlwood, although this is no longer the case. There used to be a small Co-op retailer beside the Thurlwood tavern, "The Royal Oak", however this is currently a Chinese Takeaway, entitled "Jade Garden". Rode Heath and Thurlwood are now effectively joined, although the major 'link' and where you can see the end of one village lies on the southemost lock.
